Odisha Government announces International Literary Award in memory of Manoj Das

Litterateur Late Manoj Das honoured with Padma Bhusan Award  (posthumously)

Bhubaneswar: May 04: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an International Literary Award in memory of iconic litterateur from Odisha Manoj Das. Odisha Government created such an International Award to honour the noted writer Manoj Das.

This International Literary Award will be presented annually to the Writers for excellent contribution in the field of English Literature.

A cash prize of Rs 10 lakh will be felicitated to the winner of the award every year.

Chief Minister also announced another Award in the name of Manoj Das i.e. Manoj Kishore Sahitya Pratibha Award. The Award will be given to budding writers in high school standards excelling in writing in both English and Odia language. Talents under this category will be felicitated with a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh each.

Besides, Odisha government announced to make the ancestral home of the Manoj Das at Sankhari, Balasore as Manmath-Manoj Memorial where works of Manoj Das and his elder brother Manmath Das will be preserved.
