Bhubaneswar: December 28: Odisha government appointed retired IAS officer (Special Initiative), which will be in the rank of Chief Secretary. Mr. Balakrishnan, a 1984-batch IAS officer, will directly report to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, an official statement issued in this regard said.
Balakrishnan will take care of the functioning of the Special Development Council, Tribal Museum, Crafts Museum, Heritage Cabinet and Odia University, according to a notification.
Balakrishnan retired on November 30 this year as the Development Commissioner. He has declined to take any salary and will receive an honorarium.
