Rituals of Deities delayed due to Servitor-Police clash

Puri: December 28: The rituals of the Holy Trinity have been delayed since today morning due to a clash between a servitor of Srimandir and cops happened yesterday night. On Thursday night, Police asked three devotees from West Bengal to produce identity card for entry into the Temple. Devotees were not carrying any identity card; rather they gave the reference of Bhabani Mohapatra as their ancestral priest.

On the other side, Police did not allow them inside as they assumed that a couple of them were foreigners. Further, a fight ensued between Mohaptra and the cops over the issue.

FIR from both sides has been filed. Discussion held between temple administration and servitors to resolve the issue was not conclusive.

As said by SJTA chief administrator Pradipta Mohapatra, the servitors are adamant and now everything depends on the conscience and decision of servitors.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in front of the temple when irate devotees barged into the temple after breaking the barricades and scuffled with the cops present on the spot.

As sources said, Puri Administration has been discussing with the servitors to sort out the issue.
