Bhubaneswar: October 22: State Government of Odisha approved damage assistance of Rs.2770 crore for the districts affected by cyclone Titli and subsequent flood. After a high level meeting held at State Secretariat here, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) informed media regarding funds sanctioned for different departments for relief and restoration works in the respective areas.
He said, ‘Damage assistance of Rs.2770 crore has been approved and Rs.375 crore has been earmarked for worst affected Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts’.
SRC informed that financial assistance of Rs.375 crore will be provided as relief to the affected people in Titli and subsequent disaster happened earlier this month and Rs.102 crore has been given to Collectors of Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada as the first instalment of Gratuitous Relief distribution. The rest amount will be sent to the bank accounts of the victims.
Speaking in details, SRC Bishnupada Sethi said, towards repair and restoration works, the government has approved Rs 27 crore for Energy Department, Rs 20 crore for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Rs 7 crore for Water Resources Department, Rs 50 crore for Works Department, Rs 55 crore for Rural Development Department and Rs 624 crore for Panchayati Raj Department.
Also, it is directed to the concerned departments to submit report on the crop damage assessment within two days.
The meeting also discussed various issues related to Natural Disaster Management Programmes undertaken in the state.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
