Bhubaneswar: July 04: Due to Coronavirus pandemic, Odisha Government has taken a decision not to allow ‘Bol Bom’ Devotees to offer prayers at Shiva Temples across the State.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has said, Bol Bom devotees or Kanwariyas will not be allowed to gather, carry water from water bodies and walk on the roads to pour water on Shiva Lingas.
Bol Bom Devotees usually carry water from Rivers and all and walk on barefoot several kilometres to pour water on Shiva Lingas. This happens during the Month of ‘Shravana’ (July/August). Keeping in view of the distance, they start their journey on Saturday or Sunday or Monday. They pour the water on Mondays only.
