Odisha govt declares summer holidays due to heat wave

Bhubaneswar, April 25 : in the wake of severe heat wave forecast across state, Odisha government Monday decided to close schools for summer vacation from Tuesday.

The Met office has predicted temperature would hover around 42 degree Celsius at many places in the next few days.

According to Special Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra, the schools will reopen after Raja festival and the losses in study will be compensated through extra classes.

He said, however, where examinations are due, the school authorities can conduct the tests in the morning and evening time.

Notably, the State government had closed schools since ten days due to gurelling heat wave condition across the state. Most of the places experienced temperature of around 45 degree C on Sunday with Titilagarh becoming hottest in the country at 48.5 degree C.
