Odisha govt permits JSW to open up steel plant at Paradip; 9 other proposals approved

Bhubaneswar, June 3: In a high level meeting, the state government’s High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) chaired by CM Naveen Patnaik yesterday approved Jindal steels’ 10 mega tonne steel plant project proposal at Paradip. The authority approved 10 mega project proposals which would generate investment of Rs 1.10 lakh crore in the state.

Talking to the media, CS Aditya Padhi said that the JSW group will be setting up the steel plant at an estimated investment of Rs 50,000 crores which will generate nearly 30000 jobs for youths. The group has also requested the state government to allot the land that was earlier provided to Posco, added Padhi.

Besides the HLCA has also approved the proposals of Paradip Phosphates Ltd, OCL India Ltd, NLC India, National Alumina Company, Bhusan Power and Steel, National Mineral Development Corporation JSW Infrastructure and Smartchem Technologies.

The state has claimed that this huge investment opportunities are an outcome of the investors’ meet like the Make in Odisha conclave in Bhubaneswar and the Odisha Investor’s meet in Mumbai and Bangalore. While the meets have generated 124 project proposals in the near past, MoUs for 71 have already been signed. With this 124 proposals, the state is about to generate about Rs 3.6 lakh crores of investment.
