Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has directed the panchayatiraj department to build drinking water projects at gram panchayat level.
He asked the panchayatiraj and rural development departments to provide necessary suggestions and technical assistance to the gram panchayats, which will carry out the projects in villages.
Chairing the Executive Council meeting of the Panchayatiraj Empowerment Campaign at the State Secretariat here today, the Chief Secretary said that the government will provide 50 pc funds for the projects while the remaining 50 pc will be managed by the respective panchayats.
The Chief Secretary suggested the panhayatiraj secretary to connect each panchayat of the State through Odisha State Wide Network (OSWAN). “The dissemination of information and data will also be expedited through the OSWAN software”, he said.
