Bhubaneswar, April 8: Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has directed officials to expedite completion of Biju Krushak Yojana and Jalanidhi projects on a priority basis as the State government said it has succeeded in expediting deep bore well digging and their energization. According to officials who attended the meeting, as many as 59, 055 deep bore wells have been dug up in the State and as many as 40,134 have been energized. Efforts are being made to energize the remaining on war footing, they claimed.
The government has also taken steps to secure loans for nearly 14, 251 farmers from bank after consultation.Notably, Biju Krushak Yojana and Jalanidhi projects have been implemented in all the districts barring four coastal districts such as Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri. According to Chief Engineer BK Jena Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation and Agro Industries Corporation has been entrusted the responsibility to execute the schemes. Nearly two thousand shallow tube wells and Micro bore lift scheme will be dug under the two schemes to provide water to farmers.
