State capital hottest for second successive day

Bhubaneswar, April 8: State capital Thursday sizzled for the second successive day recording the season’s highest temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius even as 13 places recorded temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius during the day.The Met office said that Chandbali, Cuttack, Angul, Baripada, Jharsuguda, Keonjhargarh, Sambalpur, Hirakud, Talcher, Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Dhenkanal and Titlagarh recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.According to Met office bulletin in the evening Chandbali registered 41.7 degrees Celsius, Cuttack 41.4 degrees Celsius, Angul 40.9 degrees Celsius, Baripada 41. 5 degrees, Jharsuguda 40 degrees, Keonjhargarh 40.3 degrees, Hirakud 43. 1 degrees, Talcher 42 degrees, BhawaniPatna 42.2 degrees, Bolangir 42 degrees, Titlagarh 42.5 degrees and Dhenkanal 41.1 degrees Celsius during the period.

However, Gopalpur was the coldest place recording 31 degrees Celsius, the bulletin said.

According to reports, stiff hot breeze cause huge discomfort for the people in most places since around 10 in the morning and by noon people searched for cooler places. The Met office has issued warning for heat wave condition in the next two days in the coastal areas of the State.
