Cuttack, Dec 16: To mark the birth centenary of legendary leader and former chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik, the Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry will be organising an air show at the vast stretch of Kathajodi river bed in Khannagar here on Dec 23. This was informed to media by Cuttack Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra today here. He stated that Surya Kiran AT, Akash Ganga and Sarang will be performing their skills at the air show. Surya Kiran AT and Akash Ganga performance was undertaken by the Indian Air Force in January 2010 at the same spot during the National Youth Festival.
Notably, in April, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the son of the legendary former leader had written to Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar thus seeking his request to hold an air show by the Indian Air Force personnel in the State. He had further stated in the letter that all logistic support for these air shows will be provided by the Odisha government.
From Mar 5, 2016 the State government is holding a year-long celebration to celebrate the birth centenary year of Biju Babu.
