Bhubaneswar, May 5: Yesterday the Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik requested the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari to intervene into the the matter of lack of Odia writings on kilometer stones, information boards and National Highways in the state. Patnaik stated severe disappointment in his letter by pointing out that most destination boards and information places have ignore the language of the state. He also said that the instruction given by the Ministry in its 2004 circular is not being followed in Odisha. The circular clearly states that all information boards should be written in three languages, local, Devnagari and Roman. The local language must be used in writing on kilometer stones for every 2nd and 4th kilometer stones along with Roman and for every 0th and 5th kilometer with the Hindi on first, third and sixth kilometer stones.
