Odisha likely to experience heavy rain in the next 48 hours

BHUBANESWAR, OCT 7: Odisha may experience heavy rainfall and a strong surface wind in the next 24 hours in view of a low pressure area being created over North Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood area.
Under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over East central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood today, an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin said.
The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric level and the system would become more marked during the next 24 hours, it said.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over coastal Odisha during the next 48 hours while rain and thundershower would occur at many places in the State, it said.
The IMD also forecast strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 45 kmph gusting to 50 kmph from northeasterly direction which would prevail along and off the Odisha Coast.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea as the sea condition would remain rough during this period.
