The Purighat police detained two people today for allegedly being involved in the sale of fake BP Medicine (Telma 40) in the city. Sanjay Jalal, owner of Puja Enterprises, and Rahul Syal, owner of VR Drug Agencies, have been named as the suspects.

Police sources said the drugs were brought from Bihar and Bengaluru. While VR Enterprisers obtained the stock in Bengaluru, Puja Enterprises obtained it in Patna.

A police team will travel to other states to conduct more investigations. The accused duo will be brought on remand for further interrogation, the official said.

The Drugs Controller had previously filed an FIR with the police. In connection with the investigation, police raided Puja Enterprises and VR Drug Agencies, both drug wholesalers in Manik Ghosh Bazar here, yesterday.

The memberships of two drug distributors, Puja Enterprises and VR Drug Agencies, have been revoked by the Cuttack District Chemist and Druggist Association.
