Odisha sets Rs 38,714 cr MSME export target

Bhubaneswar, April 1: A target to export goods worth Rs 38,714 crore produced by the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises has been set by the State government.

Replying to a question of by BJD MLA Saroj Samal in the Assembly, MSME Minister Jogendra Behera said that the goods would be exported at an average growth of 10 percent per annum as per Odisha Export Policy-2014.

He said as marine sector had already exceeded 10 percent growth, the growth rate of the sector for the next ten years had been set at 15 percent.

The growth rate of other sectors had been calculated at 10 percent growth in each year.

The Minister said the export from Odisha during 2008-09 to 2012-13 was Rs 14,578.54 crore. The products targeted to be exported aremetallurgical product, engineering, mineral, agriculture, marine, handloom, handicraft, textiles, pharmaceuticals, software and service exporter.

Behera said Odisha exported goods worth Rs 16063.79 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 17701.68 crore in 2014-15.

The State, he said, has targeted to export goods worth Rs 19562.08 crore in 2015-16, Rs 21559.95 crore in 2016-17, Rs 23763.88 crore in 2017-18,Rs 26195.42 crore in 2018-19, Rs 28878.38 crore in 2019-20, Rs 31839.16 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 35106.97 crore in 2021-22.

He said the government had announced a number of short and long term action plans to increase export from the State.

The action plans included constitution of empowered committee, setting up of export park and trade centre, show casing of MSME products in prominent places of the country and to formulate an export development assistant scheme to boost export.
