Odisha State Film Award Winners, Declared

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The State Culture Department today declared the winners of the prestigious State film Award for the year 2015. Tourism and cultural minister Ashok Chandra Panda announced the winners’ list at a function in the state capital.

Kehi Nuhein Kahara has been adjudged as the Best Film. The film was chosen to get the Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami Samman. While Soumya Ranjan Bags best Actor for film Antarleena, Barsha Nayak as Best Actress for Tulasi Apa, Samaresh Routray as Best Actor in Supporting Role for Ishq Tu Hi Tu. The year’s Best Director award has been considered for Amiya Patnaik for Tulasi Apa, while Sushant Mani was considered for the best screenwriter award for Kehi Nuhein Kahara.

The journey doesn’t ends here. Every year the state cultural department gives a lifetime achievement award in the name of Jayadev Award, a special award conferred on a film personality for outstanding contribution to Ollywood. Veteran Cinematographer Ashok Swain has been selected to receive this year’s Jayadev award for lifetime achievement. He will receive a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and a citation.

The Best Story award will be given to Tapas Sargharia for Ishq Tu Hi Tu. The prestigious Balakrushna Samman award for Best Music director goes to Pankaj Jal for Tulasi Apa. The Pramod Pati Samman for the Best cameraman award goes to Arjun Jena for Tulasi Apa. Best playback singer (female) to Antara Chakrobarty, and male to Goutam Giri, Best Editing goes to Sukumar Mani for Ishq Tu Hi Tu.

The state award for films was first established in 1968. The state culture department selects a panel of independent jury members comprising of important personalities from the Odia Film fraternity, journalists, public servants and others, who decide the awards. The award is presented in 25 different categories.
