Odisha To Go For Urban Elections; SEC Issued Notification

The notification for the scheduled polls of Urban Local Bodies in Odisha was published on Monday.

As per the notification issued by State Election Commission , the elections to 106 urban local bodies (ULBs) and three municipal corporations will be held on March 24.

Nominations shall be filed from March 2 to March 7. Scrutiny of Nomination Papers shall be done on March 9. Nominations can be withdrawn by 14th March. Voting shall be done on March 24 and counting on March 26.

The election to the posts of Vice Chairperson and Deputy Mayor will be held on April 7 and 8, 2022 respectively.

There are 47 Municipalities and 59 NACs in State. In total 1731 Wards are there in 106 Municipalities/NACs. Over 27 lakh voters shall cast their franchise in 3030 booths in the Municipalities/NACs.

3 Municipal Corporations shall also go for Poll on the same day. Total 168 Wards are there in 3 Corporations. Over 14 lakh voters shall cast their franchise in 1407 booths.

There will direct elections for the post of Mayor in corporation area and chairpersons in municipalities/NACs.

The voters will be allowed to use NOTA option in the forthcoming Urban Elections.
