Similar use of electronic chips for tampering with the system in dispensing units were also found in various petrol pumps in UP and apprehending the same, raids were conducted in Odisha as well. The raids in UP petrol pumps detected that the dispensing machines were fitted with electronic chips and manipulated through remote control devices. The raids were conducted by the Special Task Force. The chips were attached to wire linked with a remote control. By using the remote control, the Up petrol pump could set the limit and ensure that consumers were supplied with 940 ml or less fuel for purchase of one litre of petrol or be it diesel as well.
