OEW demands Transparency in Fund raising of all Odisha Political Parties for smoothness in Upcoming Panchayat Polls

Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: As Panchayat Polls are going to be held next year, voice has been raised against the transparency of the political parties’ fund raising.

In a meeting held by Odisha Election Watch (OEW), the state chapter of National Election Watch, the civil society members, sought for the transparency regarding the poll expenses and fundraising

To stop being bribed by the aspirants, awareness should be created among the voters, said Rabindranath Sahu, Secretary of the State Election Commission.

Though expenses related to poll has being showed by the parties, the sources of rising of funds shall also be disclosed.  

As per the report of OEW, BJP has received an income of Rs 1968.41 crores in the year 2012-13 and 2014-15, Indian National Congress’s income for the same period has been recorded as Rs 1617.06 crore. Similarly, it has also been recorded that Communist party of India-Marxist’s (CPM) income was Rs 371.88 crores and for Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) it has been Rs 266.5 crores and Rs 149.65 crores recorded in the name of National Congress Party (NCP).

Sources said, Rs 38.5 crores has been received as income by the BJD during the aforementioned period.

Dibya Shankar Mishra, Spokesperson of BJD has also stated that transparency of election expenses and sources of fund raising should be transparently done.
