Gunpur: The OJEE examination has been halted in the GIET University in Gunpur, in Rayagada district of Odisha on Saturday due to a fire mishap. The exam was stopped before 40 minutes of the completion time. The second sitting of the exam has also been postponed.
As per reports, a fire broke out in the computer lab of the CSE department in a five-storey building of GIET University in Gunpur, Rayagada district at around 1:45 pm today, causing extensive damage.
The OJEE exam, which was being conducted today, was stopped halfway due to the fire. While a hundred students were appearing for the exam, only 40 minutes were left to complete the exam, but it was stopped due to safety concerns. Along with this, it is learnt that the second shift exam has also been cancelled today.
Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, it is said that the incident took place due to a short circuit in the lab. While no one was killed in the fire, 14 computers, tables, chairs, ceiling, server room in the lab were destroyed.
