Omicron Enters India

The new variant of Corona Omicron has also reached India. Its first two patients in the country have been found in Bangalore. Of these, the age of one is 46 and the other is 66 years old. Both of them are foreigners. Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Luv Agarwal gave this information on Thursday.

He said that the new variant of Corona, Omicron, is expected to spread rapidly. It can be up to 5 times more contagious than Delta. So far, 373 cases have been found in 29 countries of Omicron.

ICMR DG Balram Bhargava said that genome sequencing of the infected is being done in 37 labs set up by the Health Department. Of these, Omicron has been confirmed in two samples from Karnataka. It is being told that both the people are foreigners. They came to Bangalore on 11 and 20 November.

All the people who came in contact with them have been identified and are being monitored. Bhargava said that we do not need to be panic, but awareness is very important.

So far mild symptoms have been found in all the infected cases. No serious symptoms have been noted in all such cases so far in the country and across the world.
