Rourkela, April 5: Ore Bedding and Blending Plant of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) bagged the Champion of the year trophy for the year 2015-16.
The OB&BP team received the impressive trophy from CEO Ashwini Kumar during the Annual Performance Review and Award function held at Gopabandhu Auditorium on April 1.
During the Financial Year 2015-16, the OB&BP Department bettered its own performance over all previous years in various areas of operation.
There were several occasions when the best daily and shift records were created in the different areas of operation.
Notably, the Department achieved Zero demurrage consecutively for the last 5 months from November, 2015 to March, 2016.This has resulted in savings amounting to Rs. 61.42 Lacs.
It is also significant that the OB&BP Department has achieved a Total Dispatch of more than 8MT consecutively for 2 years in 2014-15 & 2015-16.
It is noteworthy that after expansion of capacity, the raw material requirement of RSP has gone up to about 12 MTPA from the previous requirement of 5 MTPA.
The OB&BP Department, which handles most of the Raw Materials for RSP has had an augmentation of facilities that include receiving, unloading, reclaiming and finally transporting of raw materials required for Blast Furnce-5, base mix preparation for the New Sintering Complex, transportation of Flue dust, Mill scale etc., transportation of crushed fuel and flux for trimming addition to the new Sinter Unit, conveyor line for transportation of Calcining Plant grade limestone and dolomite to consuming units and an automatic sampling system.
Ashwini Kumar congratulated the OB&BP Collective and exhorted it to continue its good work in the future, too.
