Cuttack: December 03: Orissa high court has denied interim protection to Orissa Stevedores Limited owner Mahimnanda Mishra in connection with the murder of Seaways Group GM Mahnedra Swain at Paradip. Four of Mishra’s associates were also denied protection from arrest by the court and it has also asked the Jagatsinghpur Police to submit the case dairy. It is to be noted, Mishra on November 18 had moved to court seeking anticipatory bail.
Earlier, some evils had opened fires at Swain at Ambedkar Bhawan in Paradip on October 26. Swain’s family had alleged that it was a pre-planned attack on him. SSL, who was also involved in stevedoring and had recently bagged a contract from the JSPL, was objected by OSL, and OSL wanted to minimise the presence of SSL in Paradip. Earlier, Police has already arrested prime accuse Rakesh Chaubey and Congress Leader Bapi Sarkhel.
