Cuttack, Sept 7: Yesterday the Orissa High Court refused to grant the anticipatory bail to Johnsel Raja who is the chairman of Selvam Educational and Charitable Trust, Tamil Nadu for disregarding the said bail conditions. Reasoning out as to why the bail could not be accepted, the HC in its hearing said that since Raja did not co-operate with the court related to the MoU with Sardar Rajas medical college in Kalahandi. During the initial hearing of Raja’s bail petition, the court had granted him bail only on one condition that he would appear before the investigators on Aug 12, 13 and 14 that too personally but Raja had deposed before the probing officials only on August 13 for few hours. Thus, the court on receiving this information denied the anticipatory bail plea of Raja.
Notably, in February, the CBI has filed a case of cheating against the then Additional Secretary, Medical Council of India and five others in which Raja was also included for allegedly giving clearance to the medical college by disregarding the said norms.
