Bhadrak, Sept 9: A road blockade was staged by enraged locals at Basudevpur-Dharma road Chandimal Chhak on Thursday who demanded immediate arrest of principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya. The locals blamed him for the death of a Class XI student who committed suicide inside the hostel of the school on Wednesday. The locals blocked the road by placing the body of the deceased student on the road.
Reportedly, on September 3, the principal of the school had called the father of Padmalochan Bhoi, the deceased class XI student, to the school. Later, the principal had thrashed the boy in the presence of his father for resorting to malpractice during examination. On Wednesday evening, the body of Padmalochan was found hanging inside the hostel room.
Bhadrak SP Dilip Kumar Das said that following the complaint by the family of the deceased, the police has registered a case and have initiated an investigation.
The principal absconded after the incident. However, the police have started the search operation to catch hold of him.
The post mortem of the body at the district headquarters hospital was conducted by the police yesterday.
