Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Today the State Election Commission (SEC) Secretary, Rabindra Nath Sahu informed the media that a total of 36,779 candidates have won uncontested in the panchayat polls 2017 due to filing of single nomination. 36,222 candidates won for the ward member post, 209 won uncontested for sarpanch, 347 for samiti member and one for zilla parishad posts. Earlier, the SEC office had issued a final list of 1,89,099 candidates who have nominated for the panchayat polls after the deadline for nomination withdrawal ended on Jan 21.
