Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The SEC yesterday has decided to conduct repolling in 62 wards of 11 districts of Odisha as the district collectors have stated in their reports that violence had been conducted on booth capturing and violence during the first phase Panchayat polls. A release issued by the SEC yesterday evening stated that repolling in 62 wards would be conducted in Balasore, Bhadrak, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Koraput, Nuapada, Puri and Sundargarh districts between Feb 18 and 21. Repolling in 36 wards in Balasore (2), Cuttack (16), Dhenkanal (1), Jajpur (5), Kendrapada (11) and Nuapada (1) districts would be conducted on Feb 18 and repolling will be held in 4 wards in Kantamal block in Boudh on Feb 19. On Feb 20, repolling will be held in 13 wards in Puri and one ward in Lathikata block in Sundargarh while four wards each in Koraput and Bhadrak would be conducted on Feb 21. Noting the irregularities in the voters list in Balasore, the SEC asked the Panchayati Raj department to place Balasore Sadar BDO, Mamata Nayak under doubt and also release her from election duty with immediate effect and another officer would be assigned to poll duty as per the orders of the SEC.
