Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: 2,07,180 candidates have become eligible to participate in the upcoming three-tier gram panchayat elections. After the scrutiny of nomination papers on Jan 18, the State Election Commission (SEC) yesterday published the total eligible panchayat poll candidates as well as names of eligible ward members, sarpanch candidates, panchayat samiti members as well as Zilla Parishad members. 1,46,662 have qualified for ward members, 31,086 sarpanchs, 25,714 panchayat samiti members and the 3, 718 have become eligible for Zilla Parishad. Withdrawal of candidates’ names came be made till Jan 21.
