Paralekhmundi, Aug 23: The lone survivor Santosh Patra alias Tulu, who was found in a critical condition in the mysterious death incident of Anang Manjari Patra, the palace manager of Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb in Paralakhemundi, and her two siblings- Bijayalaxmi and Sanjay Patra on Sunday, took his last breath while undergoing treatment at MKCG medical college and hospital here on Monday evening.
The death of Santosh, who was the sole witness to the whole death mystery, has made the job of the special investigation team (SIT) formed by Crime Branch of Odisha police to probe the matter more difficult and tough.
The six-member team of the SIT that was formed yesterday on the orders of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik consisted of an SP-rank officer, two inspectors, a sub-inspector and two additional sub inspectors.
Now, the suicide notes and a diary that was recovered from the manager’s house by the police could be the only source to ascertain the exact cause of their death.
However, the six-member team of the SIT, along with an expert team from the State forensic laboratory visited the Palace of Parala Maharaja on Tuesday to carry out an investigation into the deaths of the manager and her three siblings and to find out the actual reason behind the deaths of the four. The SIT, headed by additional SP officer RB Panigrahi, would focus on all aspects relating to the deaths.
Notably, according to sources, in the suicide notes, the deceased have mentioned that they decided to take this extreme step due to mental pressure. The suicide notes consists of names of several persons, which raises a question whether the deceased have actually mentioned these names and if they have, then what type of pressure those persons had exerted on the four family members to take such an extreme step of committing suicide.
As alleged by the family members of the deceased, the local MLA K Surya Rao and some other persons close to him, had conspired against Ananga and Sanjay to defame them. They suspect that there was pressure on Ananga and Sanjay, as may be the two were aware of the conspiracy against them.
