Pipili, Nov 30: Although prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC was clamped in Pipili market area, tension gripped the urban local body after a man hurled eggs at the meeting of BJP activists near the toll plaza here. The saffron activists blocked national high way near the toll gate soon after the incident. However, the road was cleared later after police picked up the protesters from the road. On the other hand, the man, who threw eggs at the meeting, has been detained and is being interrogated.

The BJP workers were scheduled to organise a protest rally against the egg attack on party woman leader Lekhashri Samantsinghar two days ago. The BJD supporters also had planned for a similar rally to protest against egg attack on local MLA and Agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy in Bolangir a month ago. Apprehending law and order situation, the administration slapped the prohibitory orders in the market for five hours from 10 AM to 3 PM. However, BJP organised the protest meeting outside the town near the toll plaza. Notably, the woman leader of the saffron party was attacked with eggs two days ago when she was on her way to Dandamukundpur to attend a party meeting.
