Police Case lodged against MD of OSL, Paradip, Odisha suspecting to be involved in GM’s murder

Paradip, Oct 28: Alleging the involvement of OSL’s GM and stating it to be a work of contract killers, a case has been filed against Mahimananda Mishra, Managing director of Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL) and also against his three employees for killing Seaways Shipping and Logistic Ltd’s General Manger Mahendra Swain. As per the information, an FIR was filed against Mahimananda Mishra, Basant Kumar Bal of OSL and two other employees of OSL named Subhas Acharya and Devi Tripathy at Paradip Police station by the murdered Swain’s elder brother Raj Kishore Swain. Following which, a case was registered and investigation has been started on the matter, informed Gadadhar Pradhan, ASP, Paradip.

Sources said, last year when the SSLL was selected for cargo handling rights in the global tender, some rival company started opposing the selection of the SSLL company. Fearing threat to his life, Mahendra Swain urged for police security and recently a private security guard was also ensured to him for security. Police has now started interrogating the driver and the private security personnel of Swain and are verifying the phone calls.

While he was moving towards his office, two motor bikers’ first hurled bombs at the vehicle and after that two more motor cyclist fired at Swain when he was trying to escape from the spot. However, four teams has been formed by the police to nab the killers and investigation is on, the police officer said.

As he killers had helmets on, some witnesses are not being able to recognize the accused. Bal, on other side has refused to give his involvement in the matter.
