Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: As another violent strife, the Maoists organization at the Malkangiri division has come out with fresh posters thus protesting the surrender of their cadres. Earlier the Maoists had called for a Malkangiri bandh condemning the alleged Oct 24 encounter which claimed lives of around 30 Red rebels.

These fresh posters have names such as Poonam Chandra who is the secretary of the committee and it says they decry ‘corruption’ by government officials in the region. The letter read that the red rebels are aware of the fact that the surrender of some of their cadres following the encounter by security personnel is stage-managed and it is an act by the police only to weaken the Maoist movement. The letter of the ultras also read that the priests, traditional healers and quacks were been misled by the cops against the Maoist movement. It further stated that while the police is misleading the gullible villagers by giving false promises, the Maoist organisation is fighting for legitimate rights of the poor and tribal. Lastly it stated that the ultras wanted to end corruption by government officers in the region.

Notably, recent surrenders have led to an increase in the intelligence gathering scope of security forces and has reduced logistic and other support Maoists were getting in the area.
