Rourkela, Feb 20: A 60 Mega Watt Power-plant replica operator training Simulator was inaugurated by MK Das, Executive Director In-charge, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Friday at Central Power Training Institute (CPTI). Present on the occasion were Mr. Ashwini Kumar, ED(Works), Dr AK Singh, Director In-charge (M&HS), Mr. P K Pradhan, ED (P&A), Mr. S Das, ED (Projects) and many senior officers of the plant.
Dr Sumit Datta GM (HRD) and AM Pujari, DGM In-charge, CPTI took Das and other dignitaries around the Simulator Hall where he was appraised about the Simulator facility.
Sagar Mohanty, DGM (CPTI) appraised the dignitaries about the overall aspects of the training simulator.
It is to be noted that the state-of-the-art Real Time HMI Based Power plant Simulator with project cost of Rs.2.65 Crore has been installed in the newly renovated Simulator Hall of CPTI building. Operators trained on simulator environment would gain the skill necessary to increase plant performance, minimize down time and provide confident emergency response. The Training on this power plant simulator will meet the critical training needs of the Power-plants of SAIL to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency. There is also ample scope of earning revenue by extending the training facility to Non-SAIL customers.
A two day pilot training programme on ‘Simulator familiarisation and 60 MW Power Plant Operation’ was also launched during the inaugural function.
It is worth mentioning that as an ISO 9001: 2008 certified and Category –I Institute, recognised by Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, Govt of India, the Central Power Training Institute has been conducting power related training programmes, workshops, seminars etc for SAIL and Non SAIL personnel to integrate the process of human resource development with the overall corporate vision of the organisation.
