Protection of computers from ransomware virus; IT Dept issues advisory to all offices in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 17: As an counter attack on the WannaCry Ransomware cyber attack, an advisory has been issued by the state IT department so as to avoid possibles attack in the state in future. In the advisory, it has advised all the departments to go as per the instructions prescribed in the advisory from preventing further computers to get hacked. It has asked all the users to keep updating their computers and anti-virus software installed in the system and to keep a backup of data regularly. It must be ensured by the user that the backup is done offline by keeping two files of data and documents on hard disk. Further it stated that required steps have been taken to protect the government data system. A 20-point guideline has been provided to all offices. Also, the report of the attack on the Berhampur city hospital is not confirmed still, a techinal team has been sent there for investigation. IT Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera said this to media.
