Puri, Apr 6: Two days ago the protection wall of 50 m of the Samajajpur railway over bridge at Chandanpur on Bhubaneswar-Puri highway caught fire. The wall is made of bio bags arranged with sand. This has questioned the protection of the bridge and the people. The bags are stacked for giving support to the approach road of the railway bridge towards Samajajpur village but they now have been destroyed after it caught fire thus questioning the longevity of the bridge and its usability in view of the Rath Yatra starting from Jun 25. The National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) have confirmed that the construction company and a consultancy firm have been asked to inspect the site and access the damage following which necessary actions as per their recommendations will be taken to rectify the problem. This was said by Dharmananda Sarangi, local NHAI official.
