Bhubaneswar, July 29: By supporting Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik, who termed that the facts provided by Chhattisgarh Government are misleading and false, the members of BJD hit the road today and protested against the construction of barrage on upper catchment of Mahanadi River. Around 100 urn of water has also been poured on the posters of Odisha’s Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP President, Basant Kumar Panda, which was brought by around 400 women from Mahanadi River. They also poured water on the posters of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Raman Singh and Union Minister, Sanjeev Balyan.
While addressing the media, Ananta Narayan Jena, Mayor of BMC, said that BJP should work for the State and should change their agenda. To gain likeness of people, BJP should think for them and not against them. Hence, this purification ritual of pouring water on the posters was conducted with a belief that it will purify the thought of the Ministers and will help them to think for Odisha’s interests in future.
MLA, Bijay Kumar Mohanty, said a meeting regarding Mahanadi Issue between Odisha Government and Chhattishgarh Government would be held today. But before that it is necessary to purify those ministers who work in BJD for Odisha. It is shameful that the ministers hailing from Odisha, are not thinking about the State. So to make a difference in their thinking, BJD members today will do the purification ritual for those ministers.
By condemning the work of Chhattisgarh Government, MLA, Pravat Biswal said the construction of barrage on Mahanadi River will affect districts like Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Paradip etc and it will also affect the electricity production work in Odisha. Thus, the Ministers must think about this for the people of the State with a cool mind and to fulfill this purpose, 100 urn of water has been poured on the images of Ministers printed on the poster.
He further stated that, BJD will hit the road in future with various new ways of protest.
