Bhubaneswar: July 10: East Coast Railway will gear up all resources to ensure that the Railway establishment at Puri, including the Puri Railway station, is presented to the people as an Epitome of cleanliness. As a part of our contribution to Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, it is extremely important for us to present the Railway station in its best condition during the entire Rath Yatra period. The Railway station should give a very positive feeling to all pilgrims and tourists alighting/getting down at the station. All efforts should be made to ensure that sanitation and hygiene receive the highest priority at Puri Railway Station. Let it be enshrined as our commitment to the passengers. These were the instructions of East Coast Railway General Manager Shri Umesh Singh to all the senior officials of Railways during his final review of Rath Yatra preparations of Railways.
Every year, thousands and thousands of passengers travel by trains to Puri to witness the Rath Yatra celebrations. This year, the Railways have already announced 184 Special Trains to be run in addition to the normal trains scheduled. A few more Special Trains are also being planned and the total number is likely to touch 190.
The East Coast Railway General Manager also reviewed security arrangements and stressed upon proper crowd management by RPF and GRP. Extra CCTV cameras should be put in position at crucial points. Punctuality of all incoming trains should be monitored from originating point itself. The Rath Yatra APP developed by East Coast Railway would be of great help and Live Train Information should be displayed on that. Another new facility added this year is provision of TRUCK-MOUNTED ACCIDENT RELIEF VEHICLE (ROAD ARV) which can quickly reach any point at Puri Station in case there is any requirement of the same for relief and restoration works.
In any case, Passenger Security, Train Safety and punctuality should be the focus areas for Railway persons. However, this year, Station Sanitation, Hygiene and cleanliness should be taken up as a mission and cooperation of one and all should be sought to showcase PURI Railway Station as an area of cleanliness. This is indeed a tough challenge, but Railways is prepared to take up this challenge, Shri Umesh Singh said.
