Rail line extended to Bolagarh, passenger trains on this route very soon

Bolagarh, Aug 1: Railway line phase from Khurda till Bolangir, under the 289 km long railway line project with an extension till Bolagarh in Khurda district, has been completed by the Railways. A trial run was put up by a diesel locomotive at 3:30 pm yesterday, from Rajasunakhala station to Bolagarh that covered around 13 km distance.

After the successful trial test, the railway authorities informed that passenger services would be available on this route up to Bolagarh very soon and the distance between Rajasunakhala and Bolagarh has 29 minor bridges, four road-over-bridges (ROBs), including one ROB over National Highway-57 and eight road-under-bridges.

Currently, two pairs of trains covering 41.5 km are running in between Khurdha Road and Rajasunakhala in Nayagarh district. Bolagarh would be the next station after Rajasunakhala, which is at a distance of 12.8 km from Rajasunakhala.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, had flagged off a passenger train from the newly built Khurdha-Begunia rail line last year on July 16. From November 3 last year, the train had also been extended to cover the Rajasunkhala in the second phase.

The rail line work from Bolangir to Bhainsapalli station has been started. It is expected to be commissioned by May, 2018.

Notably, Rs 240 crore has been allocated for the Khurdha-Bolangir railway project by the Centre under the Railway Budget this year.
