Rains in North Odisha; to be a windy evening tomorrow; MeT office

Bhubaneswar, Mar 10: Shallow fog observed at isolated pocket of North Interior Odisha. Rainfall has occurred at a few places over Costal Odisha and isolated places over Interior Odisha. Chief amount of rainfall has occurred in Gopalpur (dist Ganjam), Nuagada (dist Gajapati), R.udaigiri (dist Gajapati), Jaipur (dist Balasore), Balimundali (dist Mayurbhanj), Athgarh (dist Cuttack), Gudari (dist Rayagada), Remuna (dist Balasore), Balasore (dist Balasore), Bolagarh (dist Khurda), Nh5 Gobindpur (dist Balasore), Mahendragarh (dist Gajapati), Naraj (dist Cuttack), Khandapara (dist Nayagarh). Maximum temperatures observed markedly rise over North Odisha and no large change over South Odisha.  They were below normal over North coastal Odisha and normal over rest Odisha. Minimum temperatures observed no large change over Odisha. They were appreciably above normal over South Interior Odisha and above normal over rest Odisha.

Having a partly cloudy sky with traces of thunder showers of to occur, Odisha’s capital city is likely to experience in the next 24 hours a maximum and minimum temperature of 29 degree Celsius and 23 degree Celsius respectively on Saturday.

The relative humidity will be 95 percent at its maximum and 62 percent at its minimum, as said by the MeT. On Saturday, rains with thunderstorms to occur at a few places in North Odisha and in districts of Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh and Kalahandi and then down South along with thunderstorms, hail storms, the wind speed is likely to reach 60-70 kmph. On Sunday rains with thundershowers and hail storms to occur in some places in Coastal Odisha, in the adjoining districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj and then at a few places in Interior Odisha with a wind speed reaching to 60-7- kmph. On Monday, rains with thunder showers to occur at few places of Coastal Odisha and then in Interior Odisha. On Tuesday and Wednesday, weather to dry in Odisha. As per the weather forecasters, isolated thunder-squall activity likely to occur in Interior Odisha.

For the fishermen, strong and gusty surface with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast and hence fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.

The highest maximum temperature of 36.00C was recorded at Bolangir and the lowest minimum temperature of 13.00C was recorded at Sundergarh in the plains of Odisha.
