Ransomware virus attack: Odisha govt hospitals in Kalahandi and Sambalpur fall prey

Bhubaneswar, May 20: The Ransomware virus is headbound to destroy. Another two attacks have come to fore, two hospitals in Kalahandi and Sambalpur each today.

Two computers of Niramaya store in Kesinga in Kahalandi have been attacked by the Ransomware malware and the incident came to light today morning. The entire medicine shop has been adversely affected by the virus attack. Senior officials of the hospital have informed the Kalahandi SP about it. All the data in the two hospitals have been hacked following which there is a chaos in the hospital. The hackers have demanded ransom in bitcoins that involves digital currency transactions in anonymity.

In another incident, computer at the sickle cell unit of the blood bank at VSS Medical in Sambalpur has also been attacked by the ransomware malware today. This is the third ransomware attack in Odisha’s government hospitals.

Earlier, a personal computer system of a studio was also attacked by the Ransomware at Sarankula in Nayagarh. However, the police did not file the complaint even after the studio owner reported the matter.
