Rayagada: In a raid, the Food Safety Department’s team inspected a shopping mall in Rayagada of Odisha and found several expired food items being sold. The District Food Safety Officer seized expired bhujiya and unsealed pickle bottles from the mall.
Following the inspection, a fine of Rs 1 lakh was imposed on the mall for violating the Food Safety Rules.
It is to be noted that earlier allegations had been made that the store was selling expired food items for months, putting consumers’ health at risk.
