Bhubaneswar: April 27: Re-polling in 12 booths, where elections took place in third phase, have been recommended to Election Commission of India, informed Chief Electoral Officer Surendra Kumar.
As informed, ‘On the day of Poll, after completion of Poll, during the receipt of polled EVMs at the reception centre in Puri, the polled units ( control unit, ballot unit and VVPAT) for booth no.62-Gadibrahma Pry.School under 108-Brahmagiri Assembly Constituency were duly received at the election counter. While the ballot unit and VVPAT machines were stored at the designated place earmarked for the machines pertaining to the said booth. Due to purely human error, the Control Unit of EVM was kept in some other strong room, other than the designated one.The error was noticed at the time of sealing the room by the returning officer in presence of the candidates’.
The error was immediately reported to the Returning Officer and in order to ensure complete transparency and credibility of the polling process, the CEO has recommended re-polling in that booth.
Also, EVM glitches reported from various places in third phase of elections 2019.
Odisha Chief Electoral Officer recommended re-polling in Booth 62 in Bramhagiri assembly constituency, booth 196 in Baramba AC, booth 183 in Deogarh AC, booth 222 in Bramhagiri, booth 78 in Satyabadi, booth 85 in Talcher, booth 90 in Athagarh, booth 100, 137 and 138 in Athagarh AC, booth 127 in Bhubaneswar Central AC and booth 171 in Ghasipura.
