Rohit Sharma Ranks At Number 5: ICC Test Rankings

Bhubaneswar: The new ICC test ranking that was updated today, has seen massive changes, as England captain Joe Root becomes the number one Test batsman in the world. With the India Vs England series underway, India’s performance has reflected in the ICC ranks. Skipper Kohli’s poor performance in the ongoing test series has dealt a blow to his rank as he falls to secure his position in the ICC World’s Top 5 batsman. However, Indian Opener Rohit Sharma, for the first time, has managed to place himself in the 5th position on the Top 5 list.

Kohli, who has never been dropped out of the Top 5 list since last 5 years has finally felt the consequences because of his poor performance. Kohli, who has managed to score just one half century in the past 5 innings that he has played at England, has lost 9 points and now ranks at number 6 in the ICC Test rankings with just 766 points.

Rohit Sharma, who was in the 53rd position in the test rankings two year ago, when he was allowed to open for the Indian test squad, currently sits with the Top 5 world contenders. Rohit Sharma now leads at number 5 with 773 points.

On the other hand, England skipper Joe Root has managed to place himself in the 1st position, for the first time after 6 years. Joe, who ranked 9 in the test rankings earlier, has surpassed New Zealand’s Kane Williamson. Joe, now tops the rank chart with 916 points, while Kane ranks second with 901 points and with 891 points, Australia’s Steve Smith leads the third place.
