Ruchika open shelter escape case: Prime plotter traced in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar, May 10: Today, in connection to escape case from the Ruchika open shelter home, the mastermind behind this, the Bangladeshi minor boy has been traced in Cuttack. The shelter home authorities have left for Cuttack to bring back the boy.

On May 3, the Ruchika Shelter Home authorities had filed a complaint at the Lingaraj PS here that twelve children of Ruchika open shelter here, have escaped by breaking the bathroom skylight late night on May 1 as it was evident from the CCTV footage. Out of the 12, one has been caught at the railway station here and four others were caught later.

The Child Welfare Committee members counselled the caught kid caught as to under what circumstances the kids had to flee and how did they managed to do the same.

Out of the 11 fled, there was a Bangladeshi kid who was said to be the main plotter. The kid had even fled once from Jatni-based shelter home few days back but was nabbed and kept at the Ruchika open shelter. An investigation had begun by the Khurda Collector into the incident. Benudhar Senapati, Child Welfare Committee member said to media that such incidents occur as police keeps children, having criminal background, at the shelter home instead of putting them under the juvenile justice board’s observation home in Berhampur.
