More than a lakh ineligible beneficiaries under KALIA Scheme in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: Panchayatiraj and Law Minister Arun Sahoo has  directed officials for sticking to deadlines on execution of Central and State government projects.

 His directions came during the review of State level vigilance and monitoring committee meeting here Thursday.

  Sources said, while state had aimed to create 760.06 lakh workdays under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), a total 528.13 lakh workdays have been created so far at an expenditure of Rs 1484.06 lakh out of Rs 2336.42 lakh.

 The government has announced to provide 200-day work in the drought-hit areas and all arrangements have been made to meet the target, the sources said.

 As part of its emphasis on rural housing scheme, the State government plans to convert all the kuccha houses to pucca houses in the next 5 years.

 To achieve the target, as many as 1680 houses are being constructed every day under the Biju pucca ghar and Indira Awas Yojna.

 The government is targeting construction of 2000 houses every day.

 Steps are also being taken under Chief Secretary’s guidance to make construction materials available at sites, sources added.

 The government has decided to provide houses to all the tribal people in the State.

 Sahoo directed the PR department to take necessary initiative to address the points raised by the SC/ST department.

 He also suggested training programmes under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).
