Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, March 15: The Supreme Court on Monday posted the next hearing on Jaring-based Sardar Rajas Medical College (SRMC) in Kalahandi district to April 19.

The case was scheduled to be heard today after the court directed the State government on January 12 to relocate the students of SRMC to three private colleges in the State.

Hearing the petition filed by medicos of three medical colleges challenging the Orissa High Court order, the apex court posted the next hearing to April 19.

In its earlier order, the apex court had directed the State government to complete the admission process within seven days keeping the admission fees at par with the government medical colleges in the State.

Besides, the court had cautioned the students not to resort to agitation defying which action will be initiated against the violators.

Notably, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had withdrawn SRMC’s recognition and affiliation on ground of poor infrastructure and inadequate faculty strength earlier last year. The students had then approached the Orissa High Court for reprieve.

The court had asked the state government to facilitate admission of Sardar Rajas Medical College students in two government and three private medical colleges
