Puri, June 8: After a lot of ups and downs, finally its time for the grand Snana Purnima of the Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. With the Purnima scheduled on Friday, the 9th, this year’s rituals will be conducted under a heavy three-tier security and discipline at the Snana Mandap in Puri. All decisions and preparation have been made by the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) after discussing with the servitors for smooth and timely conduct of the festival. As per sources, the security has been tightened to ensure that the devotees do not touch the deities & should get a proper Darshan of the Trinity from a distance.
On the other hand to maintain the discipline and facilitate lakhs of devotees for the Darshan are being looked into while the entire temple is under strict CCTV surveillance.
Notably, earlier last year, tension had erupted after some devotees touched the deities on Snana Mandap. However to avoid such untoward situations, this year, measures have been taken while security had also been tightened. The SJTA has also put up posters at various places in 4 different languages to notify the devotees about the situation.
