Keonjhar, Aug 31: In the case of attack on Tekloi MLA and BJD leader Vedavyas Nayak, at a party meeting held on August 28, seven persons have been nabbed by the Harichandanpur Police on Tuesday night.
As per the information, earlier, FIR against 12 persons was filed by the police. Following the direction of the district SP, the joint raids were conducted by the SDPO Ghatagaon and Harichandanpur police at several places and the seven accused were arrested. Interrogation of the arrested is being carried out at the Ghatagaon SDPO office on Wednesday.
Notably, Tekloi MLA and BJD leader, Vedavyas Nayak, was attacked by some party workers during a meeting on Sunday, at Gundhichaghati under Ghatagaon block. Following the assault, Nayak sustained head injuries and was rushed to Harichandanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) from where he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Three party workers, Bishnu Prasad Biswal, Panchanan Sahu and Bikash Bhitiria have been suspended by the BJD district president for their involvement in the incident.
