SOG jawan killed in exchange of fire with maoist in Kandhamal

Kandhamal, June 5: After a terrible exchange of fire between the Jawans and the maoists late last night in a forest near Khamankhol in Kandhamal, at least one Special Operations Group (SOG) jawan died, along with 10 other have also been injured.

Notably, the jawans on their way back after long hours of combing operations were suddenly attacked by the rebels. The jawans without thinking retaliated back and thus started the pouring of bullets from both ends in which one jawan lost his life, while 10 others have been injured. After being wounded, 3 jawans were admitted to the Baliguda hospital while other 3 critically injured have been taken to the MKCG hospital at Berhampur.

As of sources, identified as Laxmikant Jani, the deceased jawan belonged to Kalahandi. On the other hand security has been tightened around the area while the search operation has also been intensified.
