Southwest Monsoon Arrives in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has arrived in Odisha. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has covered the entire state, bringing relief from the heat wave conditions.

The IMD has issued alerts for various districts, warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds. The monsoon arrived in Odisha ahead of schedule, covering parts of Malkangiri district initially.

Accordingly, heavy rainfall is expected in districts like Balasore, Jajpur, and Ganjam. Likewise, strong winds forecasted, with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph in some areas.

Yellow warning has been issued for nine districts, including Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Rayagada, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh for rainfall.

Also, red alert warnings issued for some districts, indicating heavy to extremely heavy rain.
